Swear words are metaphorical devices with thousands of possibilities: to criticize a behavior or a way of being, to ridicule or slander someone you dislike, serving primarily as an outlet for the helplessness we feel in the face of events.Sometimes describing a person or the state of affairs becomes complicated if stubbornness, bad faith, or foolishness get on our nerves—hence the great utility of describing the situation with a single, precise, and forceful word or phrase.
Describing people or situations in a humorous, malicious, and direct way—using adjectives to characterize the human condition—always reveals that the speaker isn’t usually concerned with whether the description fits the situation exactly; rather, the intent is to hurt and humiliate the person on the receiving end of the insult. and if they lack the resources to respond, they usually retort with an even more outlandish insult, so the chaos is guaranteed.
On the other hand, the bastards, sycophants, and frauds who are aware of their true nature suffer when they’re reminded of it, as it strips them bare spiritually; therefore, we should expect an escalation of petty dirty tricks. It’s better to keep yourself out of their sphere of influence—no Facebook, etc. In serious cases, have a lawyer on retainer.
If we are the ones being insulted, an open, mocking laugh goes a long way, but when the insult is a slander, stoicism is an antidote to the anger and bitterness it generates; it’s important to remember that “the wise man’s best revenge is to forget the insult of the boor.”

Insults with their suffixes, prefixes, diminutives, etc. It’s not just a form of insult—for example, when used in diminutive form, they turn a swear word into something funny or affectionate; other times, antiphases or reversed phrases manage to turn a swear word into a compliment, for example, “valla chiringuito” to describe a big house, restaurant, etc… There’s also self-deprecating humor when we screw up, and—of course!—gestures that speak as loudly as swear words. Intellectuals use them as a way to describe the quirky characters around us; comedians use them as a catalyst to shake off the lethargy caused by stress; advertising uses them as a form of counterculture; snobs use them sparingly to add a touch of humanity to their exquisite glamour… and so on.

Insults can be a way to laugh at the primitive nature of human beings; these adjectives are comparative and funny, but for them to have this comedic effect, they must not only have some basis in reality but also be delivered in a brazen and direct tone, with a big smile or a look of astonishment—depending on the company—and, of course, using diminutives, augmentatives, and antitheses. Without these elements, there’s a high chance the expression will turn into a drag, becoming a disparaging or vulgar insult.

In modern times, insults—just like compliments—are viewed with suspicion as being the domain of outcasts and tacky people, so they’re still used only in very masculine, working-class neighborhoods, although this hasn’t changed in circles of gossipy women, where using them is considered “tomboyish.”
Could it be, then, that our articulate society has overcome the Cro-Magnon within us? Are people just following the herd? Does the fear of making an unwanted impression limit our vocabulary?
One can utter insulting truths (or lies) using perfectly correct language, thereby crushing any possibility of reconciliation, clarification, or compassion; therefore, it is obvious that insults are not so much about words as they are about mindsets. The tone or intention is more insulting than the word itself.
Although there’s a saying that “it’s not the one who wants to hurt you who does, but the one who can,” time is the ultimate avenger of every affront and the ultimate guarantor of the fragile and discreet truth, In the meantime, may humor, strength, and a few catchphrases (among the thousands out there) accompany you as part of your anti-stress vocabulary.
