The History of Sexy Pin-Ups
June 30, 2026In the Internet age—also known as the digital age—we know that, thanks to Photoshop, it is easy today to manipulate or retouch photos; clear examples of this can be found throughout the print media.
Digital retouching has become so specialized that it has introduced something new to our digital age… the “CG girls” have arrived… a technical term used to describe these computer-generated girls, who are works of art that could easily be mistaken for real women.
Creators and designers are constantly refining our “CG girls” to make them increasingly difficult to distinguish from real women who have been retouched with Photoshop, and they’re placing greater emphasis on the detail and realism of the “CG” in skin pores, hair, facial contours, eyes… and we’re seeing them more and more in advertising, magazines, television, movies, and online.
One of the great advantages of the “cg” design—among many others—is that it allows for the creation of profiles and stereotypes entirely tailored to the consumer’s preferences; they are fully customizable and versatile, and can be adapted to any script or profile these cyberbeauties might have.
Real or not?… The “cg” are just missing a heart… or do they already have one, too?… Because they’ve got everything else in spades…
Let’s hope that the future of human beauty will be as easy to achieve as these cyber creations—perhaps then emotions such as empathy or sensitivity, which are very human traits, will shift from being studied to being cultivated as a priority for surviving digital loneliness.
